Walking on Sunshine

Have you ever been driving down the road and a song comes on that matches the moment? It is as if you are in a movie and the scenery rolling by is the set up for some grand adventure that awaits you. I like to take those moments and reflect upon how music shapes our moods and actions.

Now, take this same idea and transfer it to skiing. What if a song matched your run and you used the tempo to shape your turns? How would that look and feel?

Find a song or create a soundtrack to set the tempo of your day. Ride the lift or skin on up. Consider your mood, the snow quality, the pitch of the run and decide what is going to fit. At the top, start your tune*- whether it is in your mind or pumping out of your Jammy Pack. Let your song create the rhythm and timing. Try playing with the shapes and types of turns; small, medium, large, carved or smeared. Don't forget to look downhill, take in the scenery, and be the star in your own movie.

*Just a note, if you are using earbuds, keep one bud out to stay acutely aware of your surroundings. It would be a huge bummer if your soundtrack was violently interrupted by another slider.
